This is a base camp, not a through walk or a Great Walk. After an approximate 9 hour drive we will camp at Takarakka Bush Resort under a canopy of gums and fan palms. Each day we will do day walks including 2 long day walks to Big Bend (21 km) and to Cathedral Cave (22km). The other days will be short walks with time to relax. Carnarvon Gorge is an oasis in the semi-arid heart of Central Queensland.
