Buchanan's Fort is a cliff-line which marks the south-eastern end of a prominent ridge, also known as Little Widgee Mountain, between Christmas and Widgee creeks south of Beaudesert. The walk is almost entirely on private land, mostly grasslands of an operating cattle property, which we need to respect. We ascend via a steep ridge, the hardest work of the day, to a break in the cliff-line. The 5 grading is mainly for the minor scramble and short, very steep grassy section up through the cliff break.
