On the 2nd March 1977, Mr Paul Pavletich piloted a Piper Comanche aircraft from Archerfield aerodrome to Bundaberg with the intention to return that same day. The 57 year old pilot suffered from colour blindness and was only permitted to fly in Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) by day. As he left Bundaberg he was advised that Brisbane weather conditions were poor and Archerfield was closed to Visual Flight Rules clearance.
