We depart from Fairfield at 6.15am.  From there we drive to the start of the walk at Yellow Pinch car park, which is the same car park to access Mt Barney.   Mt Ernest lies between Mt Barney and Mt Lindesay, and we get great views of both. There is a reasonable amount of elevation gain, approximately 700 metres, and it gets steep towards the end.
