CARNARVON NATIONAL PARK - SIX DAY THROUGH WALK |
|
Carnarvon Gorge, a fertile valley between towering sandstone cliffs, is the well-known feature of the Carnarvon National Park in Central Queensland. The throughwalk however concentrated on the largely undisturbed wilderness parts of the park to the north and south of the Gorge. Not as lush as the Gorge, it is of great value as a place where plant and animal communities, once widespread throughout the central highlands, are protected. Water is scarce and obtained from a few springs. |
